Recycling Collection
Menomonee Falls has three different systems that homeowners commonly mix up, year round yard waste drop off, spring brush pickup, and fall leaf collection. Use the right option below so you avoid missed pickup, fines, or extra fees.
Yard waste disposal, year round drop off
If you have grass clippings, garden debris, leaves, and most general yard waste, Menomonee Falls residents use the Orchard Ridge drop off program.
The drop off facility is open to residents year round
Yard waste such as grass clippings, leaves, and tree branches cannot be put in the trash under state rules, plan on drop off or approved programs instead
You can use the Village yard waste permit to get up to 35 drop offs per season at no fee, the season runs April through December
One visit per day, the attendant marks your permit each time
After 35 visits, you pay the posted per pound rate with a minimum load charge
If you do not have your permit, you can still drop off, but you will be charged
Payment is credit card only, cash is not accepted
Proof of residency is required for permit replacement or free disposal
Important if you hire a contractor
If you hire a contractor to haul away yard waste, they cannot use your free resident permit
Contractors are required to pay the yard waste business fee, so plan for that when comparing cleanup options
Spring brush pickup, one annual curbside pickup
Brush pickup is separate from yard waste disposal and it is limited to the Village’s scheduled program.
Brush must be out by the second Sunday in May, then crews start collecting the following Monday and move through the Village one time
Accepted brush only, branches up to 6 inches in diameter, cut to 4 foot lengths
Place brush on the terrace area between the curb and sidewalk, or along the edge of the street in areas without curb, keep it parallel to the road
Do not place brush in the street, for safety it will not be collected
Not accepted, yard waste, leaves, grass clippings, garden debris, stumps, roots, shrubs with root balls, brush in containers
Brush put out after the deadline is not picked up, plan ahead for trimming projects
Fall leaf collection, leaves only
Leaf collection is designed to protect storm sewers and is not the same as brush or yard waste pickup.
Runs seasonally, typically October through late November
Provided on streets with concrete curb and gutter storm sewer systems
Leaves only, no brush, no yard waste, no debris mixed into piles
If the Village finds brush or debris mixed into leaf piles, you may be given notice to remove it within 72 hours
Failure to correct can be treated as a municipal code issue and may result in a fine
The Village typically posts a daily progress map during the leaf collection season so residents can track when crews are in their area

Seasonal Services and City Notices
After heavy snowfall, check your mailbox and post condition, secure mounting helps reduce damage during plowing
If you have a hydrant near your home, keep it accessible by clearing snow around it
Severe winter storms and snow emergencies
During a declared snow emergency, parking on streets, alleys, and highways is prohibited except for active loading and unloading
Vehicles parked during a snow emergency may be towed at the owner’s expense, and this is one of the most common avoidable issues that delays street clearing and service access
If you have curbside work planned, confirm whether a snow emergency is active before the appointment
Outdoor burning rules
If you plan any outdoor burning for yard cleanup, confirm the Village rules first.
Fires must be attended by a competent adult and the Village requires access to a garden hose
Yard waste burning is limited to specific days and times, and there are location and pile size requirements
Permits are generally not required for yard waste or recreational fires on residential property, but restrictions still apply
Where to check current alerts and service changes
For the most current notices, use the Village alert tools.
The Alert Center shows active alerts and emergencies
Notify Me allows you to subscribe to updates, including garbage and recycling scheduling changes, public announcements, and emergency alerts, note that sign in is required
